Madison-based company developing interactive web products for children and families seeks an experienced local Flash Developer to develop a Flash multimedia application that incorporates an XML-based, service oriented backend implemented as custom PHP and Drupal module code. You will work directly with the Lead Developer and be responsible for implementing object-oriented, AS3 components as the primary Flash programmer on a distributed team.
Duties of the role:
- Construct ActionScript 3.0 classes and completed Flash modules for use within the application
- Properly document techniques and code
- Organize work products and class hierarchies in SVN according to Lead Developer direction
- Support testable, maintainable code tree
- Track progress towards deliverables per calendar, reporting problems and obstacles
Primary Qualifications:
- Development experience with Flash 8/ActionScript 2.0 object oriented programming
- XML data integration skills, familiarity working with RPC techniques such as XML-RPC or SOAP
- Flash code-driven animation knowledge
- Experience designing & developing reusable source code using object- oriented programming principles
- Problem-solving, performance and optimization of Flash / ActionScript code
- Strong knowledge of image compression, vector based interface optimization, and dealing with layered composite formats in Flash
- Experience with web accessibility and broad browser support considerations for Flash and Flash/JavaScript integration
- Experience with commonly applied workarounds for the proprietary extensions and limitations of Internet Explorer on Windows and Safari on Macintosh
- Good communication skills, both written and spoken
- Ability to produce clear, concise technical supporting documentation
- Familiarity with approaches to unit testing for Flash
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience with Flex 2.0 and with ActionScript 3 strongly preferred
- Flash Remoting such as AMFPHP a plus
- AJAX programming skills preferred
- Adobe design toolset knowledge (Adobe Photoshop + Illustrator CS3 are formats for art delivery from our designers, however this position is NOT a graphic design position)
- Overall web technology knowledge (JavaScript, XML, JSON, HTML, AJAX) with 2+ years experience
- Experience with integration of games or educational multimedia into HTML
Systems Employed:
Development is proceeding on Macintosh and Windows Desktop systems, access to Flash, Illustrator, and Photoshop CS3 is required. Server components are currently developed on a RHES 5/cPanel 11 environ-ment running Drupal and MySQL under Apache 1.3.x. Source code is managed via SVN. Collaborative tools include Mantis, Trac, and Google documents.
